My approach as a counselor

I believe that meaningful connection is at the heart of effective therapy. Having worked in academia for over a decade before following my calling to counseling, I bring both life experience and professional training to our work together. As someone who immigrated from Germany to the US in my twenties, I deeply value diverse cultural perspectives and enjoy working with people from all backgrounds.

My therapeutic style blends person-centered and feminist approaches with evidence-based practices. Depending on your needs, I draw from various methods including somatic work, Gestalt therapy, CBT, DBT, narrative practices, and motivational interviewing. I'm particularly passionate about supporting people through perinatal challenges, from infertility and loss to birth trauma and the complex emotions of the postpartum period.  I am also committed to providing affirming care to the LGBTQIA+ population.

I love reading a good book in a cozy spot with a cup of green tea and a cat on my lap, doing yoga, going for long walks (the forest is fine, but I won’t say no to the beach), and spending time with my family.

Helpful resources I often share with clients:

The Mental Load explained in comic book format.

Kristin Neff’s resources on self-compassion.

Bessel van der Kolk, The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma.
